September 18

Today is the 43rd anniversary of Jimi Hendrix's death at age 27.  The date sticks in my mind because on that day I was enroute to Fort Lewis, Washington to begin infantry training for an inevitable tour of duty in Vietnam.  On September 18, 1970 I did not have much assurance that I would ever see age 27.

At least I'd known Hendrix's music.
