For the Commonweal

Looking at this chart of "winners and losers" from the Affordable Care Act, I see that a few "lose" while many gain.  As a society, we are healthier.  Even the whiners end up with markedly improved coverage.  Yes, it may be a hassle but in the end more Americans will have health insurance.  We're better off for it.

And by the way, all you anti-Obamacare kamikazes out there, remember that this whole jury rigged scheme was a Republican idea to begin with.  Medicare For All would have been much, much simpler.

Long Term Prospects

Without thinking, which is how they are these days, Republicans may have found an even more effective weapon to destroy government than Grover Norquist's bathtubrun off the next generation.  Not only will the public sector miss out on a whole new way of thinking in an era of rapid technological change, but an entire generation will come to see that there is no future in public service. 

America will be diminished by the loss of their talent.
